Introducing "A Course in Divinity"

How many of us have come to the realization that there was something much greater to life than meets the eye in this world? Like many before me when I first became attracted to the pursuit of spiritual truth in the mid '90s I was assailed by the smorgasbord of opportunities and apparent wisdoms offered by the so called New Age that would help me to the manifestation of better health, longer life, money, relationships and obtaining the "happy dream".

Among all I was offered, lying there quietly on the banquet table was a chance to enroll in a U.S.A based International Metaphysical Ministry self study program that proffered to be a way to better understand the spiritual pathway that I had become involved in and indeed I thought that I was seeking. Imagine my disappointment when I first received the papers for their Ministerial Course and found that the material all related to the Power Within, not only that it contained frequent reference to God.

This course was not offering a quick fix nor was anyone going to do it for me.  No instant enlightenment and no exciting "out there" stuff - it was all about the God and the Universal Intelligence and my relationship to it.  Initially I was less interested, but having made a commitment to pursue the Course I started in on the lessons.

To be quite honest, at first I thought my disappointment was well founded.  The lessons were simple and basic truths that many of us have heard so many times before.  Surely I didn't need to hear all this again.  HA!  

After about four lessons I found my approach to the lessons changing and rather than rush ahead just to get them over with and 'knowing everything', I started to delve into the meaning behind the words and dutifully carry out the recommended exercises.  I discovered that this Course is beautifully orchestrated for someone just like me, impatient yet anxious to find the truth.

Gradually as I progressed, the lessons seem to be exactly what I needed to understand in that moment, each one coincidently and completely relative to where I was in my life, by following the prayer and meditations and answering the questions I surprisingly found my life changing.

I am forever grateful that Dr. Paul Masters initiated the International Metaphysical Ministry and created his Accelerated Learning Home Study Course.  For me, it heralded the dropping away of a lifetime of patterning to embrace a new spectrum of reality for my life.

My enthusiasm for the his Course led me to discussing with Dr. Masters how we could make the Course more affordable and bring it to within reach of everyone in Australia.  The result is "A COURSE IN DIVINITY" which has over the past few years been embraced by hundreds of people in Australia and New Zealand as a Home Study Correspondence Course.

Suzanne and I have run "A Course in Divinity" Study Group, we have taught workshops from the Course material and become adept in counseling and assisting others based on applying the philosophy.  We have been thrilled with the wonderful transformation we have witnessed that occurs when people acknowledge their Divinity and are empowered.

The key to success lies in applying the theory to your life.  Just as "A Course In Miracles" takes you step by step through a mind changing process, so too does Dr. Masters material.  As the mind opens up and changes, the outside world in which we live adjusts to reflect that change.  It is truly that simple.

YOU CAN BECOME ORDAINED AS AN INTERNATIONAL MINISTER

At the end of the Course, students receive a graduation certificate and as the Course is based upon the studies required for a Ministerial status, the International Metaphysical Ministry is entitled to nominate graduates with the status of Reverend within the International Metaphysical Ministry.   

HOW TO GET STARTED

The Course is based on 48 lessons or assignments, each lesson reflecting a specific aspect of life.  The 48 lessons are structured to be undertaken over a 12 month period, but you are not required to have the assignments completed in any week or even completed within a year - there is no deadline and you can proceed at your own pace however, our experience is that to benefit fully regular commitment is essential.   As with all things in life, you only get out what you put in.

Enrollment in the Course costs $295.  This covers the cost of the Assignment folder, Dr. Masters 'Meditation Dynamics' book, Two of Dr Masters Meditation audio CDs, binding of papers, Marking in the USA, IMM Certification and approval for Ordination.  Postage and GST is included.

Lessons are available from $16 each with a total of 48 lessons.  Our 'pay as you go' option is available at $19 per lesson. Postage and GST is included.

'A Course in Divinity' is completely flexible - available by mail and with handwritten assignment or online with your computer through our website, the price is the same, or a combination of the two whichever is most convenient to you.

Once you have completed the 48 assignments they are collated by us and sent to the USA for marking. On successful completion of the Course you will receive a "Certificate in Divinity" from the International Metaphysical Ministry and you may choose to receive Ordination.  You will have received sufficient understanding to share your knowledge with others. 

On completion of "A Course in Divinity" you are eligible to undertake the second year "Preparing to Counsel" program and study aspects related to becoming a "Counselor in Metaphysics".

The side benefits are real and worthwhile, but nothing is of any value unless, as Paul Masters says in the very first lesson, "you can demonstrate in your own life that you have grasped the basic fundamental principals."

Defining Mysticism

Mysticism is a much abused word in today's world; yet, it represents the highest quest of human growth and awareness. Why "abused"? Because it has become a catchall word for everything from crystal-gazing to tea-leaf reading. It is none of these things. Properly defined, Mysticism is:

1. To discover your ultimate Self-Reality; i.e., the relationship of man-woman, mind and the Universe.
2. To discover if there is a Supreme Universal Intelligence, or God, that resides somewhere in the deeper levels of the human mind.
3. To make direct contact with this Supreme Universal Intelligence Mind, or God.
4. To experience this Presence; i.e., to "know" that Universal Mind, or God, exists and can be contacted.

What Do the Lessons Look Like?

Two thousand years ago, Christ advised his disciples, ''Give not thought what you will say before you are brought before the judges; for verily I say unto yow at that same moment, the words shall be on your lips". Christ herein pointed out a great mystical truth as a lesson for the disciples. If a person is tuned into one's HIGHER, UNIVERSAL or GOD-MIND he is intuitively self-directed to rely on that intuitive self-direction, from a HIGHER SOURCE, rather than trying to analyze every course of action.

In our modern society, we are taught to - be analytical. The reason for this is that we are born into a society which, but for a few, hardly thinks for itself, let alone realizes that a HIGHER MIND exists within that can answer all things. The student of Metaphysical Science, through meditation and other practices, comes to realize that there is, indeed, a HIGHER SOURCE of wisdom from which one may be guided in the achievement of happiness and success in this life. It is to this purpose that this lesson is dedicated.

Just as it is easier for most people to take a tranquilizer rather than to solve the cause of tension, so it is easier for most to let the opinions of others guide them rather than to do their own thinking.

The tranquilizer covers up what really should be done. Hence, there is no real healing of the cause of tension. In the same respect, as to direction in one's life, there is not a real solution or ''rising above'' those things that keep a person from attaining happiness and success to a measure that would give one a true sense of fulfillment. The choice is yours. That is:  To go along with the majority of society, living a life of quiet frustration or to be guided by an inner wisdom to a fulfillment in life through the PRESENCE of the ALL-KNOWING MIND OF GOD within you.

More than any technique or practice that a person could learn for establishing mystical self- direction, it is the SPIRIT with which one approaches life. This means that a person must definitely want to be directed from a HIGHER SOURCE. It means seeing the illusions that can come about as a result of being guided by personal egotism. It means a sincere desire to be true to one's own soul and one's individual destiny in this life, as determined by nature, the UNIVERSE and GOD. When one approaches the establishment of mystical self-direction in this spirit, then any technique or method used will be productive.
 
This lesson contains a guideline and practices to help you to achieve greater happiness, success and fulfillment. Follow through with the right spirit and your dreams can become realities.

• Throughout the day, keep an easygoing mental attitude. Intuitive self-direction comes forth more readily when one is in a peaceful state than when upset. Attempt to maintain peace and composure, knowing that if you do, the right answers for rising above any problem or difficulty indeed, come.
• Throughout the day, constantly yield your personal ego to the influence of your HIGHER MIND.
• Dedicate the beginning of the day to your HIGHER MIND, and conclude your day in the same Way.
• As you enter sleep each night, ask your HIGHER MIND to influence your subconscious mind with the proper course of direction to be taken in your life. Such subconscious impressions will surface during one's conscious daily life activities.
• Each day, place all the little questions of life, as they arise, in the hands of your HIGHER MIND. In this way, you set the tone or vibration within you for HIGHER self-direction for greater questions in your life, as they come about.
• If you find that you are overanalyzing a course of direction, it is unlikely that your thoughts have come from your HIGHER MIND. There is a sense of knowing when the direction has come from one's HIGHER MIND.
• Affirm inner, higher, self-direction during your daily activities at least three times daily. If you wish your HIGHER MIND to lead you, you must keep open to it.
• Learn to separate intuitive response from emotional response. Emotional response is more the influence of your personal ego and/or the influence of other people's thinking upon you.
• If the course of action that seems to be influencing you in some way lacks ethics, be assured it is not from your HIGHER MIND but from your personal ego. Mystically, there is but ONE LIFE and MIND in this UNIVERSE. That LIFE and MIND would not in any way give a sense of direction to harm or injure another manifestation of Itself.
• Maintaining a positive mental attitude at the surface part of one's consciousness creates a state of mind wherein one's HIGHER MIND may more readily influence it.
•  Trying always to do the right thing, according to your understanding, also sets up the right vibrational atmosphere for your HIGHER MIND to more readily influence you.            
• Each day, practice feeling or sensing the PRESENCE of your HIGHER MIND and that a greater SOURCE of wisdom is, indeed, influencing and leading you.          
• Keep yourself open. Expect that HIGHER self-direction can come into your mind at any time, in any place and under any condition.

"Every day, in every way, I am guided by my HIGHER GOD-MIND Higher wisdom   from within me guides me now and eternally."

"My body and mind are vehicles for the expression of my HIGHER MIND in everything I do, each and every day."         

"I speak forth into the PRESENCE of my GOD-MIND, at the center of consciousness within me. You know the direction of everything I should be doing in my life at this time. So, let YOUR influence be within my every thought this day and every day of my life. I open my mind, body, soul, and spirit to YOUR ALL-KNOWING MIND. Let every thought that comes into my mind come from YOU. Let everything I feel be inspired by YOU. Let me always be sensitive to the TRUTH that YOU are the TRUE LIFE and MIND of my being. So, let me live each day with the inner certainty that happiness and success are mine already, through the inner direction. You provide me. For this, I give thanks...AND SO IT IS."

• Enter into a meditative state of consciousness. 
• Think about your daily activities. In your imagination, visualize yourself going about such activities. See yourself at the place you work the places you shop and the places where you spend your leisure time. 
• As you do, see in your imagination that your body is surrounded by, and vibrating, an aura of pure, white, primal, spiritual light.
• Think of this LIGHT as living under the influence of or being guided by, a HIGHER MENTAL INFLUENCE emanating forth from within you.

DO THIS AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW MOMENTS AND IS WELL WORTH THE TIME. IT WILL HELP TO GIVE ADDED POWER TO ANY THINKING OR TREATMENT YOU ARE GIVING TO YOURSELF IN REGARDS TO ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING MYSTICAL SELF-DIRECTION.
  
One of the unique aspects of the Course is the simple method of cementing the acquired wisdom from each lesson in the mind. This is done through seven simple questions asked at the end of each subject and lesson and these answers when collated form the exam document that is marked and on which your certification is based.  These sincere answers are to be found in the text of each lesson.
